When my oldest son was a baby it was a year or 20lbs to forward face which when I was pregnant with my middle I wasn't aware that they changed the age and weight. I didn't turn my middle around till two, and my youngest who's a year is still rear facing.

Legally in your state you can't forward face until 2 years old or 40lbs.

Children shouldn't forward face until the age of 2. Children are very flexible they naturally will cross their legs if they have no room.

I was told its totally ok that his legs hang and not turn them until of weight.

@jacesterlingsmommy i know that but some drs will give the okay. I know a few people whos kids are the same weight as my son and they've never got in trouble for them facing the other way.

@andrewsmommy, my son will be 2 in feb. I just switched him last month. my car seat buckles to the bottom of the seat and top and the car strap goes into the carseat and buckles in. then the car seat itself buckles him across his chest and into the seat. thats the Only reason my doctor said it was okay. and with his height and weight. even though he is a couple pounds below it

He's crossing his legs in the picture. If he isn't screaming I really wouldn't worry trust me he's fine he's way more safer rear face and you should want that. And doctors aren't car seat techs so they don't offer accurate advice and facts

Also his car seat looks like it needs to reclines a bit more. Idk what kinda car seat that is but if you can try reclining it back some more

@amaperalta03 he was actually kicking cause he wanted to get out I just happen to get the picture when he was a little calm lol But its weird cause his carseat says Rear facing in that carseat is for 5-40lbs. Forward Facing is 20-60lbs and 1 year of age. Hes 1 but hes 19lbs

He does cry in it alot I think its because hes uncomfortable but I still want his drs concent

Technically the seat should be reclined more. I'm not sure what seat this but if the level isn't correct it could be bad in case of an accident. Also as long as you make it to 2yrs it's okay to forward face however due to bone density and structure it's safer to rear face longer. Just because there's a minimum doesn't mean it's safe. Also if you would like there's a page on FB called car seat safety. They have certified car seat techs on the page who can help with car seat questions.

You should do some research and you'll find that it's safer to keep them rear facing till two or longer. This is all still new and people are still learning about it

@santistevanmommie its reclined enough it doesnt recline anymore than that. The other choice is having him sit fully up right but still no leg room. He has to sit with his legs bent and he gets annoyed by it. @amaperalta03 I know its safer but idk why the carseat company would say in this seat they face forward at 12 months of age. Because the companies put minimums. They all do it. But as I said minimums aren't always the safest option. However like I also said as long as you wait until age two it's safer than forward facing earlier.

if you can afford a new seat the grace extend fit is supposed to be good for that and has a foot extender thing to keep them rear facing for longer.

Actually it's the extend to fit it expensive nonetheless. Also as long as you make it to 2 it will be okay to forward face him.
