so my son on medicaid... and so is my friend son who is the same age... she said they wanted to draw blood at his 6 month appt for lead..... my niece is 4 never had her blood drawn my nephew is 3 never had it done but they aren't on medicaid???? I find this crazy.... also when I was young they never drew blood from arms? they just pricked our fingers for lead test.... wtf is going on? I think drawing blood on a baby arm is a little absurd
thank u I will definitely deny that because he's way to little for that :( they will not be happy with me bc I am denying the flu shot that day either just his regular vaccines which is alot going into his bodies anyways! 3 shots uhh @nicemmcha2015
@mrs.ocon, uh no. I think not. it just wouldn't of been done. 6 months is too early for that mess anyway. you're allowed to deny any kind of service you feel the need to.
@mrs.ocon, ask to see if they can wait till he's older because 6 months is so early.
@mrs.ocon, if you get WIC ask to see if they do it. I don't understand why their doing it so early. My son just got his done at one year old.
@mrs.ocon, my son was only 8 weeks old when they drew his blood from his arm. It was pure hell. He screamed like I've never heard before. I was hugging him and they had 5 nurses holding his arms. I wanted to take my son home that instant but I knew he needed it done after his heart ultrasound and EKG came back abnormal.
im so sorry about his heart condition @guaderrama_babies2
yes that's what I remember finger pricks
why would they wanna draw blood for a baby arm if they don't have too omg im so mad. and scared for his 6 month appt in 2 weeks
My son got tested for lead but they just poked his finger and had a tiny tube to fill. The WIC actually did it and I think it was houses built before 1970 I think I don't remember actual year. The only time they drew blood from his arm he was in the ER because he had turned purple in his bassinet. That was the night we learned about his heart condition.
right.. growing up i always remember getting my finger pricked! never blood draws! idk if it a medicaid thing or the doctor office but they told my friend they can't do a finger prick only blood draw from arm. it took 4 nurses to hold baby down and do the arm draw! @armyvet_mom_of_four @nicemmcha2015
I agree. I don't think they should lead test unless you live in a place built before a certain time, or it's painted with lead paint. Or just prick the finger.
I'd refuse. tell them finger stick or not at all. they drew blood in my 8 week old in her arm when she was sick or tried and failed terribly. then did a finger stick and got exactly what they needed.
wow that is really unnecessary to me! unless they in er or like really sick and they don't know why! that sounds like torture for a little child @armyvet_mom_of_four
@mrs.ocon, I don't blame you. you know best. he isn't their baby and they don't have to deal with them after they shove all that crap into them!
