Do you have to fast for a gestational diabetes test?

Nothing after midnight

My dr told me I could eat and drink whatever I wanted as long as it wasnt sugary. Every dr is different. But I passed my test just fine

They told me nothing after midnight.. I didn't even have water and thought I was gonna die. My test was at 830 but I drank two sips of water before I took my test. Seemed to be fine. I haven't gotten my results back I just took mine on Wednesday!

@justtkristin Im already here. I drank it 30 mins ago. i told the guy I didn't fast and he said they do both. Idk. But I feel so dizzy.

Honestly it depends on your doctor and what he wants you to do. Mine wanted me to fast for the 1 hour and the 3 hour. I stopped eating after 8pm and my tests where at 830am. Also, if you stay in the hospital or doc office and just wait the sugar levels won't rise. Moving around a lot will make your levels rise. They made me stay there. I took my laptop and a couple other things to keep myself occupied. Good luck!! :) @anewmummy

I didn't have to fast for mines. Hell I didn't even know I was going to take the test until I got there. Lol

Oh okay I wouldn't eat anything that's sugary or has a lot of carbs

you only have to fast for the 3 hr test. the one hour one you just can't eat after you drink the stuff. but the day of your one hour test I wouldn't eat anything sugary just to make sure.

Yeah 12 hours. I stopped eating for mine at 7 pm and took my test at 7am
