My fiancé keeps saying Edith's pediatrician said for us to let her cry if she doesn't stop... which I don't think is…

Never a good idea to do the cry it out method. They cry for a reason, when people do the cry it out method it makes me so sad. "oh she/he stops crying after 10mins" duh, because they finally realized nobody is coming to feed them, change them or soothe them if they had a bad dream. You basically betrayed their trust for you. ugh.

Don't let that baby cry they grow up to fast I say spoil her. But then again I have been rocking and sitting in this chair at least 8 hr today haha. No I time my son he is 8w today when he is full and clean diaper and cries for no reason I try to sooth with shh sound and I introduced a pacifier at one month he still can't suck it unless I hold it anyways if that don't calm him I time him for 2mins then I pick him up. I can't go more than 2mins bc something really might be wrong as u said that's there only way to communicate. Maybe try the time method before u give in the sec she cries

@hhmariah is right something might be wrong bad dream and that's so sad those babies that cry 10 min I only do the 2 min if I know for sure his belly is full and his diaper is clean. My son cries when he spit up bc it scares him with a pat and saying it's ok he usually calms where is if I picked him up each time I wouldn't get anything done bc he does it like 10 times a day . Babies need to know there r loved and cry it out babies probably think they aren't ur baby is new it takes some time u will do great

@snozzberries, your baby is too young to even attempt a cry it out method.

My son is 6 months old and I still don't let him cry it out.. it's the only way he can talk to me

We are currently sleep training using CIO, but our little guy is almost 4 months old and even then we don't let him cry for more than 20 mins. Two weeks is much too young to be letting your babe CIO. Babies do, sometimes, just need to cry. In fact, in a month or so, your babe will most likely start the period of purple crying. Just listen to your instincts, mama! 😃

I have a hard time putting her down sometimes even when she's fallen asleep in my arms lol but guess I need a bathroom break every once in awhile

That's how I am.. I never want to put him down lol.

You're also not supposed to let them cry it out because they can have night terrors, which I think is horrible for a baby. My son is 7 months old today and I have NEVER let him cry it out. I can't and I won't do it. I still have to put my son to sleep for naps and bedtime.. I love it. Don't let your little one cry it now!

20mins?! Not wanting to start anything but no child should sit there and cry for that long. There is always a reason a child cries. I will never do the cry it out method. If a baby cries because they want to be held, get attention, whats wrong with that?

Yeah not the right way to go about it when she's that young. Maybe at 4-6 months but 2 weeks?? No

@emkasting, Yeah exactly what I've been saying. Absolutely not. I don't care if I don't get any sleep, she comes before me lol

He's a new dad and doesn't have the motherly instinct like us though. I'm sure he means well, and honestly is probably like "I have NO idea what I'm doing" lol.

Lol yeah and someone he knows has twins so she gave him advice 🙄 mmm nope. But yeah we're both learning, I'm no expert either haha but she's been a content baby thus far so I can't be doing too bad @emkasting

I'm sure you're both doing GREAT! Just have to find that balance
