I had an appointment today. More specifically an ultrasound. My baby girl was measured 4 times and every time they got the exactly same weight on her. She is measuring 8 pounds 12 and a half ounces. I'm only 35 weeks. So because she is so big I can no longer have my ECV, nor a vaginal delivery. Her butt is engaged so she cannot flip on her own now either. They scheduled me for a c section as soon as they could which will be November 11th at 7 am. I will be exactly 37 weeks but because her bottom is engaged we can't risk me going into labor on my own.
I am upset, terrified, and worried on so many levels. For those of you wondering why, here are the reasons:
C section is a major surgery and with my health conditions I am known for infections within hours of incisions. I cannot have skin to skin with my baby until hours after because she has to go to the NICU for blood sugar monitoring as well as other monitoring that I do not want to mention here. My boyfriend cannot be with me in the room when I am being prepped for whatever reason. I am a very anxious person so I know I will be crying the whole time. Those are the main reasons as of right now.
I know my baby girl will come with no harm unto her and she will be healthy and without broken bones or stress. But this was not how I pictured my labor to go especially since my labor with my son was so shitty as well. Thanks for listening to this update/rant.

I'm sorry I'm going to keep you and baby in thoughts and prayers. I promise you that as soon as you see that little blessing you're gonna be overjoyed. If c section is the safest, then you have to do it and I understand the fear but remember c section or not your body was made to carry a baby!!! You can do it mama. ❤️ hang in there

Yep I was told all my appointments from here on out are cancelled except for my post op on Tuesday in which they will go ahead and do an nst while I'm talking to the doctor and then I go in Friday morning to have her. I'm scared shitless. @lash1980 I hope your babies growth evens out and you won't have to have a c section at all. they are predicting my girl will be a few ounces shy of 10 pounds by next week :/

Keeping you in my prayers🙏🏻🙏🏻. I'm a NICU nurse and all the parents I see go through this disconnect between what they had planned and what ends up being their reality. It just plain sucks and I'm sorry that your boyfriend can't be in the OR. I've never seen that but I'm sure there's a valid reason. You should ask as many questions as you need to so you understand what's going to happen and the process. The more you know, the more in control you will feel. A lot of hospitals give tours of the NICU and will orient you to the unit. A neonatologist will come see you and keep you updated on how your baby is doing until you can visit. I'm so sorry, and I tell all our moms to focus on the positive which is of course their little miracles. Take it day by day.. you can't expect anything more of yourself ❤️❤️

@ashley2371, he can be in the OR after I get a spinal tap and get prepped for surgery. but it's that 20 minutes of getting prepped that I know I'll lose my shit and cry and be hysterical. I had a high risk with my son so I was able to tour the neonatal units with my last pregnancy with him which is great. But that was over a year ago so I'm not too sure if I remember where they are exactly now. I already have a list full of questions to ask on Tuesday. mainly about my little girl and where she goes vs where I go and how the spinal tap will work if my epidural last time didn't work etc

Glad to hear you have a list of questions for them. Also communicate to the OR/L&D nurses that you're anxious and nervous. They'll talk you through it and offer support when he can't be in there. Generally we're a pretty nice breed and we want to make our patients feel as comfortable and cared for as possible.

Don't be worried! I was absolutely terrified when I had mine! It was super quick, easy and painless (until the pain meds wore off of course lol but that pain wasn't too bad either, but they give you oxycodone for the pain at least twice a day I believe, along with something to help you poop, prenatal vitamins and iron) I went in at about 10:38 in the morning and at about 10:45 I had my little girl😍 And at about 10:55 I was sewed up and back in my room! (puking mind you but that doesn't last but for a couple hours and is totally normal) The recovery has been exceptionally easy, the only real painful thing is walking (walk as much as you can when you can and when the doctors tell you) and coughing or laughing (hold a pillow up to your scar when doing any of that, otherwise it'll be VERY painful. Other than those things, there's absolutely nothing to be worried about 😍 I promise

@1st_time_wonder, thank you so much! that comment helps to settle my nerves alot actually. There aren't any YouTube videos about the tough side of c sections and what to really expect after your in your room! thank you so much. I think I'm most nervous about feeling like I'm going to rip open when I am trying to heal up!

I've been worried about that but there's no need 😃 Just be extra careful when doing things. It's really not that bad!!! Just take it super easy 💖 It'll all be alright! Especially if you walk when they allow you and you'll honestly heal up a little faster 😃
