So I just had my babygirl yesterday and I was just curious to know if you guys give your babies a pacifier? I noticed my daughter uses my nipples as a way to go to sleep and not only to eat.

its best to wait a few weeks until BF is more established. but if you still wanna try it then go for it! mine never accepted one. im still his favorite pacifier 😣

I didn't try to introduce pacifiers until 5 weeks because I'm ebf and didn't want any nipple confusion.

@kambam, I'm gonna just try it because my nipples are already dying and she was only born yesterday 😕

@kambam, I'm gonna use some nipple cream first and see if that helps anything but my daughter sucks on her hands and everything and anything she can so I think I may have to use a pacifier

I introduced one when he was 2 weeks because of the same reason. I use the avent soothies. no nipple confusion for him.

Make sure she's opening her mouth as wide as she can before latching it'll save your nipples. See a lactation consultant if you can. It can be hard to find a pacifier she likes and the shape could be confusing and make BF worse. I used my fingers when my nipples were just too sore, she liked them better than the pacifiers anyway.

@amorrione, her latch is good. I saw a consultant today. She has an oral fixation or something she just likes to such on stuff to calm her down and my boobs can't handle it she's only been her for a day

It takes them a while to toughen up. Lanolin cream helps. It's modified so you can use it even with a lanolin allergy (something I would have been better off to know in the beginning )
