I would say a pack n play may be a better choice or a rock n play. I had a bassinet, and as much as I loved it. She only got to use it for 2 months because she got too big. A pack n play can be used for a couple of years and a rock n play is convenient because it folds up easily. It's small and makes them feel snug. The bassinet we have is pretty big and now that she's not using it, it's just sitting in our guest bedroom taking up space

I agree with @jleightutt. I had my son in a pack n play next to my bed until just about 2 weeks ago (he's 5 months) and he took the transition really well
