I really applaud my in-laws because of how generous they are. they've been foster parents for over 20 years and they took alex in when his mom abandoned him.. but some of these kids are disrespectful as fuck. 2 kids ate enough dinner for 5 people.. then laughed about it because I told them to not act like pigs. all they do is scream and yell when they don't get their way and take advantage of everything nice they're given.

That's typical for their age who are in foster care. I was in foster care and even when I was adopted I was still bounced around because my adopted parents didn't want me. When you don't have the love of a parent you tend to put up a wall and not care about anything or anyone. You never let anyone in and you act out. Trust me I did my acting out when I was 16-17 because of all the crap I went through. You may get upset and frustrated how they treat your in laws and it may not be ok what they are doing but you also have to think about what they are going through and already have been through. It's hard to relate when you haven't been in their shoes and it's hard to get children in foster care that are older to open their eyes and act right. Takes a lot of tough love to get a foater child's attention. @jsco

they've had lots of kids that have turned around. Alex lived with them for 4 years and never did anything to disrespect them. I haven't been in foster care, but I've been homeless with my mom and I've gone through my shit. they are the greatest people I know and they just get treated like shit. I think that's what bothers me most is how much they give, brand new clothes, shoes, electronics, bikes, anything they ask for and the kids turn around and tell them to fuck off. @babynessa

I don't know without knowing their story(even if I knew) itd be hard to be super mad at them. I mean you do nothing but love your hubby and he acts out once a month. We can't control their emotions and half the time they don't know how to either. So they act out. Just my opinion.

Yeah it's frustrating it really is and what they are doing is an amazing thing for those kids. Those kids may never realize how blessed they are until they are older. I've been in foster care since I was 5, homeless with my biological mother on and off for many years, beaten by her friends, raped, bounced around from home to home and I use to be so shy never spoke up never complained never said a thing. Until I had enough when I was about 17 and that's when I started acting out. Drinking, heavily, smoking a lot of pot, having sex with men I shouldn't have been, I went off the deep end. And I got everything I ever wanted. Ipads, Ipod, car, clothes, shoes, everything. But now that I'm older and I look back at the people that were kind and nice to me trying to help me I see what a complete ass I was and have apologized and thanked those people. It's harder on some foster children then others. If you want to try to help you have to learn their story and connect to them at their level. Until something happens to them that makes them wake up they will continue to act out and be complete asses to your in laws. Which sucks for them because all your in laws want to do is help them but those kids may not realize how great they have it until later on in life. They may just thinks its another stop until their placed somewhere else in a few months or even a year and how it may never feel like a true family. @jsco

Oh I see. Yeah ungrateful but you can have everything but if you don't feel loved it's not worth shit. I just kinda see their point. I guess is why I can't fully agree.

yea I totally agree with you. it's definitely hard for the kids and it's hard for my in-laws. maybe it's the fact they don't see it now is what gets to me lol I don't know. I'm usually filled in on why there placed here because I'm over at their house so often and constantly involved with everything. this house is usually the last stop before they are put in a facility because they have such a high success rate with the boys they bring in. and the pregnancy hormones don't help either lol I'm also preparing to have a baby around the kids and I'm not sure how that's going to go @babynessa thanks for sharing your story tho :) I'm sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad you shed some light on everything.

Alex has been out of the system for 6 years and we do every holiday here. there is a lot of love in this household and a good support system, they apparently just don't realize it yet @leahsmommi
