So my daughters pediatrician said to not bathe her till' her umbilical cord falls off, is this accurate?! My auntie from Mexico whom is a nurse said that's NOT right that I could have already bathed her, my daughter is 1 week old today

sponge baths are fine first week or so, after you can use just water. no scented soap etc. dont scrub just like a rinse is fine. i bathed him after a week.

You give them sponge baths your not suppose to submerge the umbilical cord with water. Once it falls off your in the clear to give your baby a regular bath in a tub.

Every doctor here, I believe, advises no baths until it falls off. You want to keep it dry to avoid infection
