Mommas who were induced, what was your experience like? I've heard it makes labor harder and longer... but I'm being induced because I am sooo dilated and effaced already but my water won't break on it's own. I live about an hour from the hospital I'm delivering at and my OB is worried I won't make it if she doesn't induce me. My emotions are all over the place..

I was induced. I was 90% effaced and dialated to a 4 and a half. I was in labor for 21 and a half hours and pushed for 8. Wouldn't recommend getting induced on my worse enemy. Because I was induced and my daughter wasn't ready to come out I almost lost her. Never again will I get induced unless absolutely had to and my doctor has tried everything before inducing me. It was my choice to be induced and it was the worst mistake, I should have listened to my doctor and let labor happen on its own.

@bentleysmomma, That's intense! My SO is assuming this is going to be so fast and easy since my doctor is starting everything for me.. but of course I'm panicking. I'm already 75% effaced and dialted to a 4. I'm having a ton of pelvic pain because she's so low already. Every time I have a contraction it feels like she's trying to bust out 😂 hence why I'm being induced early!

Yeah, definitely keep an open mind. There are other pain relief options, though. I wasn't induced with Pitocin, but the contractions were still pretty awful. I tried pain medication but ended up getting an epidural.

you do not need pitocin and I'm sick and tired of these so called doctors thinking they need to induce. there are other ways to get labor going bc pitocin is very painful and not something I'd ever recommend for anyone. an hour isn't that long and I promise you wouldn't have a baby that quickly.

@cubanese, thank you ❤ I'm hoping for the best. @hladybug, I'm glad to hear you did it with no pain meds!! That's my goal. @tiffany_sanft I am planning on eating before hand, they won't let me eat once I'm there so I know I have to before or I'll just be miserable and grumpy because I'm hungry. 😂I'm not planning and epidural but my OB wants me to keep an open mind about it since she is giving me the pitocin.

On August 1st, I got a call for my preeclampsia results. They wanted me to come in! So obviously something was wrong. The dr said I had mild preeclampsia, and they're going to induce me that night. He sent me home to get ready and come back, at 6:30 that day we went back and around 8 they inserted a gel that thins and helps my cervix get ready for labor. I contracted ALL night, 1-3 minutes apart! Then in the morning, August 2nd, they checked me and I was a 2 and a half. They decided to do another gel hoping that would really get things going before they started pitocin. They inserted it at I wanna say 8, which made my contractions 10x worse then the night before! I could barley handle them! They checked me around 11 and I was a 3 and a half. So they started pitocin around 12, and I was a 4. I decided to get the epidural while I was getting the pitocin because I knew it was going to make my contractions even worse and I couldn't handle that. The epidural honestly didn't hurt! It was just weird and uncomfortable. They were going to break my water at 2 pm but I felt it trickle around 1:30 by itself, so they decided to wait a little while hoping after my water broke that I would dilate more. Around 4, they checked me and I was still a 4 and she felt my water bag still kinda intact, I guess it was just leaking, it didn't break completely. So she broke it with her fingers and instantly I went to a 4 and a half. Then they decided once again to see if that would help me dilate, they checked again around 5 something and I was a 5. Then around 6 something, she checked me again and laughed and said "you're ready to have a baby"

I went from a 4 to 10 in 2 hours! She let baby slowly come down on his own before I started pushing, and around 7:10 I started pushing, but couldn't feel anything at all (thank god for that epidural) the dr said she knew I would tear so she was going to give me an episiotomy so it would go faster. I could feel his head coming out with my hand, it was so freaky! Almost an hour of pushing and he came out at 8:02

I didn't even push him out, my last few contractions did that for me since he was so close! His cord was around his neck and he was grunting instead of crying so they had to give him an oxygen mask, and if it continued he'd go to NICU but he started crying and breathing fine 3 minutes later! I bawled like a baby hearing him cry! We did skin on skin for two hours. A couple hours ago the epidural wore off and now I can feel everything, the stitches, tear, my stomach feels weird from being all empty and working so hard. But it was all worth it to have this little man in my arms 💓💓 induction isn't as bad as they say it is. I'm honestly so blessed to have had such an easy and smooth labor and delivery 😇

Pitocin makes your contractions a constant 10. My baby didn't want to come so I was induced Monday at 11 and gave birth Wednesday at 2:36 am(:

I was induced. It wasn't as bad as people say. The contractions are pretty painful, but that's the worst of it. I was in labor for about 17 hours and pushed for less than 30 minutes (: just make sure you eat beforehand and drink lots of water if you're planning an Epidural.

I got induced, labor was 7hrs from the first pains to having a baby in my arms. I was really close to going into labor on my own so l just had a low level of pitocin to get me started. It was intense though, I went natural with no pain meds.

@cubanese, that's what she's doing, she'll be breaking my water and giving me pitocin to get my labor started.
