Could just be a birthmark. I think it can also be a malformation in their back, but this is very rare. If they are concerned, they can do an xray or ultrasound.

its something to do with their back or spine not being properly formed. One of my children looked like they had an extra butt crack, for lack of a better term. They did some tests and determined it was a birthmark, which is the case 99.9% of the time. My youngest goes to the neurologist tomorrow.
