Quick question. Why do baby food say from 4months+ but we're told not to wean until 6months+? I'm not planning on weaning Evie as she's far too young I'm just curious:)
That's the things with these questions always get bombarded with answers. My health visitor said the jars with 4+ are mainly for their first tastes and the 6+ when you can wean starting with bits of solids through the foods. Xx
Oh God I feel like my question has started drama lol 🙈 Just a curious question as some jars say 4 months some say 6 and it confused the hell out of me lol. But as Evies 3 months and not ready for weaning I won't be trying to wean her yet, she's happy enough on her milk :) Thanks for your input ladies! @gilbs_xo @holliesinead @lynette26 @natroberts88 @sara-lou @sophgreenx @winterbaby95 xx
No one is promoting anything though? Every person has said do what you want but give their own experience. People ask questions so they get answers. What's dangerous for 1 kid won't be for another, it's all down to the baby and the parent.
I've been giving my son jars and baby rice since 14weeks and he's 20weeks tomorrow and there's nothing wrong with him at all. Only you would know when you baby is ready, all you could do is try and see.. my son now loves his food! ☺️ x
@holliesinead, aimed at no one, just a statement in general as all I've seen the past few days on social media is people promoting early weaning just because their child was lucky enough to be perfectly healthy, if someone wants to early wean that's their business some babies do need it , and I'd never judge another parents choice to wean early because that's no my business I just don't agree with people promoting something dangerous
I must admit I used to be on the 'wait till 6months' band wagon. & I still think you should leave it as long as you can unless there's valid reasons why, which you've discussed with a professional. I waited till 6months with Morgan because he was happy as Larry on milk so why bother starting?? Max however, is a hungry baby & I can already see me maybe starting weaning earlier than I did Morgan. But I will still leave it as long as I can. We'll see! Nutritionally everything they need is in their milk until 12months when food becomes much more important. Guidelines change year to year because they learn new things due to research. But it is just that. Guidelines 😊
@sophgreenx, that would be why we all said do what you think is best...we were in no way telling her to wean early & 'risk a childs health'
No one said anyone who early weans is a shit parent 🙄 just in my opinion it's not worth the risk , research has been done to show that weaning at 6 months it's safer, lucky for you to have babies perfectly healthy but myself, my sister and a few people I know all have problems due to being weaned at 4 months so people need to cut the bullshit "I did it and my child's fine" because not every child is as lucky , you want to early wean that's fine and that's your business but don't promote it because it's dangerous and you're possibly putting someone else's child at risk 😤
I have to say from my OWN lessons the whole '6 months' is bullshit please please don't listen to it!!! My youngest brother was weaned from 6 weeks from the advice from a health visitor and albie my own son has been weaning since 3 months where as my middle brother wasn't weaned until over 6 months and guess what he was so lactose intolerant he was in and out of hospital so it all bullshit do what is best for YOUR baby... I've been weaning albie for over a month now and I have never had any issues my youngest brother is also the tallest in his class and has never had any issues eating anything
So basically I'm just a shit parent for taking that risk 😂😂😂 riiiiight 👌🏽
I've just started weaning my 4 month old. My baby, my choice. Same goes for you @kelsxox when you choose to wean your baby xx
Yeah...it may or may not effect a child. But still not a risk I am taking. I'm not telling you to wait or anything. it is up to you what you do...Xx
Sorry but there's fuck all wrong with my child and he eats amazingly so it's down to you. Do what you want and don't listen to anyone else x
There's been studies where it shows early weaning can lead to digestive problems...Thats not something I would want to inflict on my child. The result of early weaning isn't always apparent in childhood...the problems may arise in adulthood...so you can't officially know if it's causing your child damage or not xx
They can be baby led weaned at 6 months...one of the reasons I waited...as I don't think it's beneficial to be on purees...takes them longer to get use to proper foods...some babies then choke etc when it comes to the more textured foods xx
Also because some babies have to be weaned early...due to problems...reflux etc xx My family nurse/ HV told me 17 weeks I could.(thats the earliest you can wean) but I waited until 6 months xxx
Because health visitors live out of books. You know what is right for your baby and you'll know when to start. Harry was so hungry so I started giving him a bit of baby rice at 11 weeks, he's got to 2 years old and is doing well so I told the health visitors to shove it when they tried to tell me otherwise x
Because it use to be 4 months...but it was changed to 6 months 13/14 years ago xx
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
