Hi :) my son is nearly 6 months old and he is going to bed about 11pm at the moment waking up through the night still, does anyone have any advice on how we can get him to sleep longer through the night??? thank you 😊😊😊
I'd start by introducing a bedtime routine. Slowly bring it forward an hour earlier gradually. I always let Morgan and Max sleep as much as they needed at that age but never past 4/5pm so they were ready to go to bed as a reasonable time. After a week or so you should start to see a difference if you stick to a bedtime routine. He'll start to become tired around that time.
With regards to waking during the night I guess it depends why he's waking. Is he hungry or just waking out of habit now? If his nappy refreshed and your sure it's not hunger than maybe try a method your happy with getting him back to sleep. It takes consistency and some babies generally just take a bit longer to sleep through than others. Limit the interaction and keep it quiet during the night though. So he learns the difference between day time being a time we're up playing and chatting and night time is for quiet time and sleeping 😊
Maya was the same until about 3-4 months old...But I took her to bed between 8-9pm...Minimise play...have dinner at 6:00..give him a bath at 6:30....do massage...reading....turn the lights off or have a night light on... Singing to him...give him the last feed...and he should drift off between 7-9pm xxx Maya without fail is asleep before 8pm now
@gabilicious, thank you! and @winterbaby95 he has about 6 ounces of milk every 4-5 hours, sometimes we give him the odd meal of baby food just to get him used to solids and he sleeps around about 4 - 5 hours a day having about 2 naps, he wakes up about 9am but also wakes up through the night for his bottle Xx
