I know I had my son less then 12 hours ago but breast feeding is already stressing me out some what! I feel like we both get frustrated with my right nipple because it is slightly inverted 😥 he latches great on my left side... I meet with the lactation consultant tomorrow but I will be feeding him in an hour or so again so any tips would be greatly appreciated! I love that he is getting all he needs from me and don't plan on giving up but I just want to not feel so frusturated..
we are doing well with it now! thank you all! @abeljames2015 @bentleysmomma @bianca_rose
Use the nipple shield to just pull the nipple out, like put it on and take it off a couple of times. Then do what abeljames said and flatten your breast and try to get the whole areola in his mouth
@bentleysmomma, he didn't want anything to do with that. 😟
@abeljames2015, thank you. I think part of my problem is I don't really put it in his mouth I just put it to his lips. also the hardest part is my incision hurting so it is somewhat hard to hold and move him where I need him.
Smoosh your boob like a hamburger, rub your nipple area on his top lip and when he opens his mouth wide shove it in. His lips should be flanged. I found the football hold to be the best for myself. Ask for nipple shields if you can! They will help bring your nipple out.
Yay!
