Question, if I was to move out of state with my baby would i have to first go through custody with my ex or can I just move and deal with it after? Would I be like abducting him?! I'm the sole care taker of my child, we just haven't done custody yet or even discussed it. I just wasn't sure. I go to file for child support tomorrow I could probably ask them or find out who to ask.
You can move but if he goes to court because he has an issue with it you will be in trouble and will have to come back. until they are 18 you cannot move outta state without the other parents consent !! And that's in every state long as there name is on the birth certificate you have to have there permission to take the child outside the state. If he don't care then your good to go but if he does you have to go through court and work something out and if he says no you have to wait till the child is 18 my friend just went through this last yr @missjess
That's for sure! @sarisings @momtobeagain I kind of thought the same thing. I will definitely consult with someone about it if I do ever move
find out about the law in your state but I used to leave in NY and came to Massachusetts with my daughter. I didn't think the father could do anything cause we wasn't married and specially with you will be easier cause it's not like your baby's physical address is the fathers house and specially if you haven't been to any court yet. I would double check first but don't think you'll have a problem.
Aww 😔 lol. Yeah these laws are tricky. It sucks, because some of these dad's don't even deserve rights to their kids.
Lol! @sarisings Oregon maybe in the far future lol. But yeah that's why I was like I don't want him to say I just took him. I'll definitely go through the courts or lawyer first if i end up moving.
Yeah, you would need consent from the father. My cousins ex left to Florida and he actually filed charges against her. The state said she has to bring their baby back. I hope you're moving to NJ! lol that would be awesome.
Yes he is. I figured their would have to be some legal/custody stuff to moving out of the state. @mamatobe8516
If you move out of state make sure you go to court in your new state immediately or he will in his state and you'll have to travel back and forth
