i dont know if this is mom shaming but a few days ago i got into this conversation with my mom and talked to my grandmother about it. i was supposed to have dinner on Saturday with my grandmother but my SO had to work later and i called my mom at work that night to let her know that dinner got postponed until next saturday while my uncle is home for a few days. (and she and my uncle both smoke.) so i was talking to her about how i dont feel comfortable with having William (my 6 week old son today) out there around 2 smokers. (yes i smoke but never never around my son) and she had said to talk to my unlce to see if he could go into another room and shut the door or go outside. ok ill do that on Thursday evening. and so my mom had said that the reason she doesnt come and see him is because i dont allow smoking in my home. and i had called my grandmother the following afternoon to talk about it. and had said that i should bend the rules for my mom and have her smoke in my house. then she went on and said that her brother did it for her sister. so what. im not bending my rules for my mom so she can see her grandson and have her get him sick. after we had moved i made the rule no smoking will be done in my house even though my mom had bought a duplex house. so my SO and i have our own little apartment anyways so i had made the rule about smoking so all smoking is done outside while my mom and my brother who chain smoke like a damn chimney r upstairs while my SO and i have the downstairs. and my grandmother said that it was my fault that my mom doesnt want to see her grandson cuz i dont allow smoking in my apartment. #StopMomShaming Does anyone think im in the wrong about this situation? cuz i feel like im doing the best for my son so he has a healthy and clean environment to live and grow up in.
You're doing the best for your child.Smoking inside the house is bad as well because it stays on the furniture and clothing so it's best to do it outside only.If your mother really wanted to see her grandchild, she would not smoke just for that time she is there.2nd hand smoke is very dangerous. My grandpa always smoked outside, my grandma never smoked, but she is the one who got lung cancer and not my grandpa. What you're doing is right, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.Sometimes when people are addicted to something they don't realize it and don't realize the consequences and how it affects others.
yes but like you said you don't do it in front of your son and like you said you put his needs before yours and if you can control yourself she can to but just like everyone is telling you that your not In the wrong so don't feel bad nothing is your fault your just being a caring mama
@jessgnov, thank you. yes i do smoke but never around my son. my sons needs comes first before mine do.
You aren't wrong for not wanting people to light cigarettes in front of your baby. That's crazy! Why can't they go to the other part of the house when they want to smoke ?
@bria, my grandmother doesnt quite understand that harms of second hand smoke and she thinks it all lies and no one knows for sure how harmful it is. yes i smoke i did smoke during my pregnancy but i made the vow to the clean environment and my SO and our future child when we had moved that there would be no smoking in our home. for almost 2 years this coming May my section of the house is smoke free. and i hope to quit soon so im looked up to my son and my future child as a role model to be a strong person.
I feel like if she really wants to see him I think she can hold off smoking in your home and then when she goes to her house she can smoke to her hearts content my mom knows I have the same rule and she respects so I don't understand why it's so hard for her if my mom can do it so can she and she will continue doing this even after he is born cause she knows how I feel about smoking so stick to your guns your not I'm the wrong!
That is completely ridiculous ... do they know secondhand smoke can give a baby asthma ???? WTF. You are 100000% NOT WRONG.
Ok, so my friend is wanting to get pregnant but..... Her fiancé does not want kids, at lease for another 3-5 years he said... so she came up with the idea to have me pee on a stick for her and show it to him so that he’ll be comfortable with not wearing a condom and finishing in her.. basically the whole idea is to make him think she’s pregnant already...... so I do this favor for her or should I tell my girl to chill?
He and my husband are friends through us and he’s going to invite him over...
My doctor said he would induce my labor at 38 weeks, if my baby girl still had growth issues and if the percentile dropped to 10 or less. Last thursday, it was 10 percentile, and he said if she didn't come on her own by 38 weeks, he would induce labor at that time. I'm 36 weeks 1 day today, he said my cervix was super thin, and 1cm dilated. Is there a possibility this can change... that my doctor will let her just come on her own? I don't want to be induced, i would much rather her come on her ...
3RD UPDATE: What would you do?
Ok, so we have these new neighbors they have been there renting the house 2 doors down for about 3 months or so. They have a 2 year old boy, he just turned two. They have asked me to babysit him on multiple occasions, just so happens I've been busy each time. In my mind, they don't know me or anything about me. Barely know my name and they want me to watch their kid because they see I have kids and stay home. Apparently they haven't had any luck with the babysitt...
@roxell, @jessgnov thank you. i may not be making the best choices for myself health wise but all i want for my son is to be healthy. i dont want to put my son at risk for major health problems caused by second hand smoke.
