my dogs keep climbing the fence! I need suggestions on what to do! a pit, a coon hound, and a beagle…

You know how some prison fences have a portion at the top that's angled toward the inside? Try adding one of those so it's harder for them to get out!

My grandpa had that problem. His dog kept climbing over. He put a shock collar on him and would spy out the window. The second that dog touched the fence, he'd give him a zap. He did it everyday for a week. Eventually the dog gave up didn't do it again. With more than one dog, it would be harder. I'd find the "leader" the dog who usually takes them on the adventure. If you're not into the shock collar, try tying the leader(s) up so the others don't run off.

My grandpa's dog was a walker coon hound.

@shewolf2015, thanks! I'm not sure who the leader is. maybe the beagle mix. she's the oldest and tends to be alpha!

good luck! I also have a friend with a pit that would always jump the fence and run off. If the other two were out with her, they would follow. One day she took one with her(poodle mix) and ran across the highway. The poodle got hit :( They now keep her in a pen with a top so she can't run off again.

Are they male? Neutered? Unneutered male dogs are more likely to get out. Neutering can help

@klp16, one male two female, two fixed, one not. we plan to breed her

Pens aren't bad, my dog is in one. I'd rather have her in it then tied up:/ She can move around freely.
