Introduced peanut butter to my little girl this morning. I mixed some in with her oatmeal she also had a jar of apples and bananas. Hope she doesn't have an allergic reaction but this is what her doctor said to do.

actually its good to expose children to peanut butter at a young age. It causes them to have less of a chance for a allergic reaction. I'm following my doctor's orders and this is what she said to do. Others may not agree but its what we are doing with our daughter under her doctor's instruction.@flower_princess,

@babynessa, my sons pediatrician said not to expose him, because it can cause him an allergic reaction, and can cause the baby's throat to close.. so yeah you might not want to try exposing her.

Well that's not what my daughter's pediatrician said. So I'll listen to my daughter's pediatrician and you can listen to your son's pediatrician. Everyone has their own views and introduces their children to things at different ages. Sorry if you may not agree but again I'll listen to my daughter's doctor and do what I think is right for her. 😊 @flower_princess

Actually there are new AAP guidelines regarding peanuts and other nuts. See below. @babynessa keep doing what your ped recommends. Other ladies, feel free to feed your babies the way you see fit! 😊
After consideration and research, the AAP has released new guidelines for giving your little one that peanut-butter sandwich. Instead of waiting until age 3, the AAP has stated that there is no benefit in waiting to offer your child nuts. Instead, the AAP notes that it's fine to give your child nuts and nut products as soon as you begin offering solid food, which they suggest at 6 months of age. In a nutshell, the old rules no longer apply and, according to the APP, you can begin giving your toddler nut products as you introduce other solids.

@marisaeileen, actually, you should read the AAP and not a source that is just paraphrasing from it.

because sadly, that is not AT ALL what the AAP is suggesting.

Thanks @marisaeileen 😊What you wrote is basically what my daughter's pediatrician said. Many mother's may not agree with us but thats fine by me. Everyone has their own views and ways of raising their child.

Exactly😊 what a boring world it would be if we all parented the same! @babynessa

Fine by me. ironic that they want to allow parents to introduce severe allergens early when the price of an epipen is completely unattainable even with insurance.

Exactly. It's not like I'm harming my child. I'm actually listening to someone with a degree. And quite frankly I don't believe I've met any doctors on this site before, so I'll continue to do what my daughter's pediatrician says. lol @marisaeileen
