I would be straight up and just say... NO.

I didn't my child her "dads" last name. I wasn't about to give her a name that would mean nothing to her. If he was actually in the picture and honestly cared about her then I would.

you're the mommy. you are carrying that child. he sounds like some guy who wants to claim he has a child but in all reality doesn't have anything to do with the child.. I know it's gotta be easier said then done but telling him no will ultimately be the best in the future.

@beanieboo you could always add his name on later if he actually steps up. And he doesn't need a dna test to sign the birth certificate.

Don't do it. Trust me. I had two kids for my ex and gave them his last name. He ended up doing something really low down and horrible and I couldn't make it work. That was over 6 years ago and I'm still fighting him so my now husband can adopt them and take his last name as I have. It's been a very expensive, long, and tedious process that I wouldn't be dealing with if I just wouldn't have given them his last name.

I understand where you're coming from I was in the same situation. But like @tarebear said seems like he is the type to just brag about having a kid but do nothing for them

im sorry and its not like his last name wouldnt still be passed on. he has another girl prego and his family big. my last name wouldnt be passed on if my son doesnt get it. but oh guys last names are more important than girls. :/ @mrslasyone

From what I was told anyone can sign the birth certificate they just fill out the documents. Then to determine paternity I believe you go through court @beanieboo

Believe it or not that is the one and only reason he wont sign over his rights to my husband. Isn't that pathetic? And he to has gotten more than one girl pregnant. One of them while we were together. I just don't feel he's reliable enough to take on this responsibility and you def don't deserve the headache that will come with it if/when you get married to the man you're supposed to be with. @beanieboo

@beanieboo, girl don't let him nor that girl bother your or get under your skin. You have an amazing gift you're growing and your life will be complete when your baby gets here. Both of them are irrelevant.

both parents should have rights to the name unless in your case use your last name girl . you don't have to explan yourself to him just do it😊 @beanieboo

I would put it in your name… And then once he shows that he is in it for real… Then maybe you can have his name changed or added.
