Ok I'm getting this nursing thing down packed here ... he has had 3 bowel movements today yellow but question is does the size of the poop matters?
Girl that's what I do & like 5 mins later they're filling back up w milk it's not a min they're not engorged @expectingour5th yea it's still yellow tho barely no seeds w or w out formula @evococa
I'm not home right now, I'll check and PM you when I get home with the info! As for the seeds, it's random. Some will be more seedy than others. And your milk is probably just coming in so it'll be in the transition process still. Plus with formula it won't be as yellow or seedy as if it were solely breast milk.
The beginning can be rough while your body is figuring out how much baby needs. If he is falling asleep while nursing then maybe try strippng him down to a diaper for feedings, stroking his back and cheek to keep him sucking longer. The more your breasts are stimulated the more milk they will make so if you are going to express or pump for the engorgement I would just do enough to make yourself comfortable.
Girl decreasing? I think it's growing by the 2nd 😭 also he doesn't suck long enough for me to become un engorged my breasts are bricks w veins bulging out @expectingour5th
I wouldn't worry unless his appetite decreases or his tummy gets distended, this could just be his norm.
me xpectingour5th, like one time he just had one drop of it @beebaby yes that's exactly how his is I don't too much see a lot of seeds tho lol @evococa it was one time he didn't have any poo in his diaper & yes that would be nice of you 😭 because I'm new to this I know they said 3 poo pampers a day I was supplementing w formula but I'll give him my milk first & how poo was still always that color
A poop you can scoop is the rule of thumb usually. About a tablespoon I believe. Or maybe it's a teaspoon. But being 6 days old about 1-2 poops a day is good I believe. I have my paper still of how many wet/dirty diapers to want during the first couple weeks. I can check it if you like (:
Exactly what @expectingour5th said. The body absorbs it so much easier. As long as he is feeding on demand, he is fine.
After day 4 you should expect 3-4 poops and after your milk is in you should have 5-6 potty's (not necessarily amount of diapers) per day. After a couple months baby will settle into a bowel schedule. The reason you count diapers now is to make sure baby is eating enough (: if there's no seeds don't worry though. My girls diapers aren't very seedy either. I kept a diaper diary the first week or so after being home to keep track. But if one day he poops less and the next more that's okay. Just trust your gut (: the dr is always there if you're concerned. Also for nursing you can use a cold compress for when you're engorged to help discomfort. Milk is supply and demand so the more you pump the more they'll try to make. 😊 hopefully this helps! Nursing is hard work! But it gets better with time (:
