That's awesome that your in laws will help out!! That will make a huge difference. Have the big kid wash his hands and make sure there's tons of hand sanitizer nearby, you can also remind his teachers he has a preemie brother at home. Oliver (my itty bitty) didn't qualify for the RSV shot. It was either 28w6d or younger or 32? weeks while on oxygen for a certain amount of time and he didn't qualify for that, so no shot for him. He's done ok without it though.

Awe! We left the nicu September 16th & he was 41w6d gestational. I only had enough pto to have 4 weeks off so I go back October 17th :(. I'm nervous about going back to work because of childcare. Initially until I go to day shift(I work swing shift) I have my in laws who offered to watch Noah for me so he doesn't have to go to day care. My step son is going to start preschool so I'm hoping we can keep germs under control at least until we get the rsv shots going. Did you get those by chance? @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom

November 4th is when we left the nicu (36w1d gestational) and I STILL remind people that I won't take him it in public or hang out with sick friends. It's been tough with my first son staring school this year- They've both been sick twice and the big kid has only been in school a little over a month. 😷 it gets better over time though. Just continue keeping your little guy healthy and happy and you'll both be fine. =]

@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, yes! It's sometimes hard to explain to people that just because he left the nicu doesn't mean he's fine now. My baby left with high blood pressure, he had a stroke the last time he was on a vent, & they found a mass in his brain three days before he went home. He doesn't feed like a normal baby because he had an NG tube for almost the entire 3 months he was in the nicu and now he fights a bottle almost every feed. I tried to breastfeed but I dried up when he was 10 weeks old. Other than that he's doing great and I'm just happy he's alive. You know how it goes, they get sick so easily & im so paranoid about germs.

That's awesome momma. We have quite a few preemie moms on here but not as many of us delivered that early. There's also support pages on Facebook if you want to talk to more moms raising preemies (because honestly sometimes it's hard finding support here because not everyone understands the challenges we can face). Anyway, my itty bitty is doing really well. No major health issues, he's surpassed adjusted age goals and is on track with his actual age milestones. We just take each day as it comes.

@yazdahboss, I had him on June 25th @ 29 weeks. He was 2 pounds & 11 ounces. @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom thank you💜💜💜 I can't believe how far he's come already. He has a few things still but he's doing so good. I'm so proud of him I can't even begin to say lol. How is your baby doing?

Just wait until he's a year old and you look back at the nicu pictures. =]. My 29 weeker turned a year old last month and the differences between then and now are INSANE! Congrats on your little one by the way!!
