I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
you're very fertile right now...but I would wait until dr gives the ok there is just too high of a risk for infection. your body needs time to heal....however, if you do decide to go ahead I would use protection.
