Might be silly question but how do you know when your babies are ready for weaning? Aria is 4months tomorrow and was thinking about giving her a little something but don't know whether I should or not?
As long as she's gaining weight OK and health visitors aren't saying she's under weight I wouldn't worry. If she's happy and content that's what important 😊
Morgan was a small baby. Long but skinny. He was never really hungry. He never cried for milk I would basically offer it every 3/4 hrs because he needed something. He often never finished bottles. Even once weaning and even now he's not a massive eater. Just like some babies are hungry babies some aren't that bothered! lol
Thank you @sara-lou I will probably wait she isn't showing any signs of really wanting it tbh but I was just wandering. What you've said has helped my decision :) tbh I didn't wean my son till 6months cause he was still happy on milk I just wandered cause she only has 4oz of milk at a feed and that's not all at once either. Thank you for your help both of you @janegail xx
There's various signs baby may be ready. Like grabbing food off your plate. Milk not filling them up, needing to be fed more frequently & being more demandng because the milks not enough. If baby is happy and content on milk I'd leave it as long as you can. There's no nutritional reason they need food as formula or breast milk has everything they need until 12months when food becomes much more important. 6-12months is purely weaning, getting them used to tastes and textures. Many parents are tempted to wean because their excited to start the process. Many people questioned why I hadn't started weaning my son when he was approaching 6months and I'd say. He's perfectly happy on his milk! He wasnt interested. Max however is quite a hungry baby so I can imagine I may end up starting earlier. I'll see how he goes.
@rach0402, 😂awww try putting porridge in her milk so she gets used to it otherwise it's best just to wait til she's ready. When I'm eating fruit I let my LO suck on it she loves sweet things ☹️️
I got a couple of things today just some rusks and a few puree things but she isn't showing an signs of being bothered lol but she doesn't drink much milk so thought it could help. think aria will be the same won't bother opening her mouth 😂 it's all abit weird to them isn't it lol. @janegail
@rach0402, there's no harm in trying. My LO is always looking at me when I'm eating I always let her taste but when I'm trying to feed her her own food she's lazy to open her mouth 🙄
