I wanted to know how mom's pump. I only pump in the morning and I wanted to know if to stock up on milk if you moms also pump during the days and how long? do you actually pump out a lot?
For me I pumped exclusively because my baby was in the nicu for 3 months. I pumped every two - three hours to mom mimic breastfeeding. I'd pump for 15-30 minutes at a time. And it's true, the more you pump the more your body will produce. For me it took about 2 and a half days before my body started to make milk.
@jensim82011, personally I haven't started breastfeeding but I do have a lactation consultant and if you want to produce more milk then you either nurse more or you power pump which is pumping regularly after each feeding, at first you may not get much but your body eventually starts making more and more milk to provide what you need. Breastmilk is supply and demand, the more you demand it whether it be by nursing or pumping the more your body will supply. @mdomke22
