I think all hospitals are different where I delivered they didn't tell me anything about having the lights off.. your nurse sounds super weird lol

they better not ask my to keep the lights on when I go, I have to sleep in complete darkness. even with the moon light I can't sleep. I have black out curtains and everything.
I wasn't able to sleep, not because of the nurses but because I just couldn't sleep. Lol the nurses came in to turn the lights off and stuff like that .

I couldn't wait to get out of the hospital. they made us keep the room hit, kept busting in whenever they pleased, like the fuck!! let us rest
