I've been told by a tattoo artist that it's not safe and you shouldn't. But idk

As long as you're not pregnant it's fine! And of course if they're using a clean needle and you're in a professional setting and such as you've stated you would be. It wouldn't affect your breast milk at all.

@queenofexpecting, @alexzandriar I've heard both sides, and I also heard you atleast have to let the tattoo artist know you're breastfeeding because some might not want to risk infection as well. even though at a reputable shop you wouldn't necessarily get it there. i heard most infection comes from improper after care of the healing tat, which I've never had trouble with the five I already have lol idk it might be something I bring up and ask my doctor tomorrow thank all three of you for your input! @emily18234

I have a friend who is a tattoo artist. He says it's perfectly fine UNLESS the tattoo gets infected. In which case the infection could become systemic and pass through milk into baby. If you take care of it properly you're fine. I've gotten multiple while breast feeding.

@babymaciesmomma, that's what I thought but I heard some artists won't tattoo you incase you do cause it to get infected because they don't want you to try and hold them responsible. I was gonna get one around Christmas, my husband said that that could be my Christmas gift from him lol

I breastfeed and just got another tattoo on Sunday, getting a tattoo while breastfeeding is perfectly fine. I also got a tattoo within 3-4 months after having my first two children as well and no complications. getting tattoos can be risky whether you're breastfeeding or not (you never know)

When I was gunna get one and decided to hold off until after we go to florida, my doctor and the shop I got to said as long as it's taken care of properly and doesn't get infected you're fine. There's always the risk of infection but it's up to you to make sure you see the guy open a new needle and all that, as well as take care of it properly.
