They're just as good as disposables except my son gets upset as soon as he's made a diaper because they don't wick away the moisture. they're supposed to make potty training easier for that reason. We put the dirty ones in a bucket of water and wash them every night. There's liners you can buy for when poops get solid. Each diaper has an insert that goes inside and it all gets washed.
I use Alva baby or Kadiwow pocket diapers they're just my personal preference plus they aren't super pricy like some other brands. They have inserts that slip inside the pocket for your desired absorbency needs (so I usually put 2-3 inserts in them at night or long car rides) if the baby is breastfed, on no solids or formula, the poo will be water soluable and everything (diapers, inserts, wet bags) can all go straight into the washer, separately from the other clothes of course, with your favorite detergent on your desired spin cycle. I put mine out in the sun to dry if the weather is nice because the sun helps keep the stains out (as best as it can) but you can also just put them into the dryer on a gentle cycle. If the child is formula fed or has started on solids the poop will need to be sprayed off into the toilet before washing, they have sprayer things that hook up to your toilet that you can get off amazon. That's about the host of things, but if you have anymore questions about it in particular feel free to message me.
