So I am scheduling my c-section. What is the process? My first c-section was an emergency so it was way different I actually labored. Is it harder to deal with? Does it hurt more? Spinal or epidural?

@mzbritt89, so it's quick? How long does the procedure last? With my son it took 45 mins.

the entire thing for me once I was in the OR took about an hour until I was in the recovery room. not long at all.

@emily18234, that's kinda the same with my son. After they gone in there I was out within the hour. I'm upset I have to schedule one but I just want a healthy baby.

The second time around is actually a lot easier. I was like you where I labored the first and second was scheduled, however, I started going into labor the second time, so I went in when I had my bloody show, they confirmed I was in labor, we (my fiance and i) got changed, him into scrubs, me into the gown. they shaved and washed me down there, started the iv, put in the catheter, took me into the OR and while I was prepped, fiance waited outside. prepping is where they insert the spinal. they lay you down and the anesthesiologist basically talks you through everything (mine was literally my life saver). As the anesthesia runs through, you may feel sick or light headed. just keep concentrating and if you need to throw up DO NOT HOLD IT BACK. just tell the anesthesiologist and hurl into his cup. they'll bring in daddy, wipe you with a cold wipe until you are completely numb, cut you open, take out baby and bam.

@emily18234, sounds easy lol I was never told the reason for my first c-section besides not progressing but today they looked at my record and my son was stuck high up because my pelvic bone is too narrow it is nearly fused together. I wanted a vbac but after knowing that why would I put myself through days of labor if it is impossible.

Understandable. mine was due to failure to decend. I was in labor for 3 days, got to 10 and he was tilted. I asked for a vabc, but my OB said she'd need all my surgery notes from my previous pregnancy to even consider and it was just way too much work for even a chance. What difference does it make really? Giving birth is giving birth. It beautiful, crazy and unpredictable no matter what hole is happens from.
