The lactation consultant here at the hospital suggest I supplement my breast milk with formula to help her gain weight being that she's a preemie 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I'm not against formula at all just little sad that my milk doesn't seem to be enough for her.
@nurseriri, she lost too much weight reason for her bringing it up. I've been pumping and breast feeding and she's never ever full with what I have to offer. For the mean time I don't mind doing both formula and colostrum till my milk comes in. As long as she's fed and happy.
@amaperalta03, sucks that you have to supplement. Is she accurate with that? Feel like the breast milk is more nutritious than formula. But then again I'm a RN not a lactation consultant. You won't get anything pumping so early post partum. Milk generally comes in few days after giving birth. Just colostrum. And that should be sufficient first few days of life. I started pumping a week after giving birth.
I'm sorry that you have to supplement! I felt the same way about it. I had to supplement with both my kids! And thank god I did my son is doing amazing now! I felt terrible like I couldn't provide for him and I wasn't good enough but in the end that isn't true my milk is what is keeping him healthy while the formula is just making him gain weight!! My son is 5 wks old and is doing amazing and he almost fully breast fed!! He takes two formula bottles through the day and that is it :) keep your head up your more than good enough for her and your milk is incredible and is doing so much more for your daughter
Mine was under a light for That but that brought me him for feeding. And I'm sorry 😞 I hope it works out bf if you want it too do.
@rodriguez13, too late I I had to she was screaming of hunger and I can't Breast feed today cause she's under a light for jaundice. And I'm pumping but nothing is coming out today for some reason. So I've been power pumping hoping to get this milk in.
@mum2logi, my first was a 29 weeker and they supplemented the milk I pumped toward the end of her stay
She shouldn't say that. In the nicu they try to give them breast milk Bc they thrive. I wouldn't supplement until one month.
when I wad in nicu with my son they encouraged EVERYONE to pump for their children. a lady I met had twins at 29 weeks and she pumped for them and they were growing fine.
Formula could make her constipated...
If her diaper count is good then ignore them.
So, my baby is 3 months and she's on 1% milk. Formula doesn't sit right with her at all.
Is soy formula milk better than enfamil formula (cows milk)?
Im trying to be vegetarian and dont want my 3 month old drinking cows milk anymore. Would it be okay to switch??
When can I start giving my son regular milk? He turns 10 months in 2 days. I bought unsweetened almond milk yesterday so he can try. Would that be okay? I’m lowkey tired of him on formula but I mean he’s still a baby lol.
my baby is 2 days old I don't have enough milk coming in yet so I give her my milk first then formula because she still hungry, even tho I didnt want to but my poor baby was crying so much :( is it ok for a newborn to yet about 20/30 ml of breast milk and 30/40 ml of formula? !
I want to start working soon, I gave my little one formula only a few times, so she's basically ONLY breastfed. Can I introduce her to formula because storing breast milk is such a bitch, plus I produce JUST enough for her I don't produce any extra??
Savannah was only 5lbs when I brought her home and I exclusively BF. She was at the 90th percentile by 5 months without formula so I'm sure she'd be fine.
