my baby has been coughing a lot during nursing. it kind seems like shes having issues swallowing fast enough.. what are signs that my let down is to FAST? and how do you fix it? it help with it. we are making a mess with feedings and she's killing my nipples trying to eat and cough at the same time.

@lexij, it's not at all!! You produce a lot of milk, you're providing for her 😊

@t623, I haven't tried that but I will. @missliss when she starts coughing I usually use it as a chance to burp her. I just feel bad when she starts having coughing fits. I feel like its my fault.

Have you tried laying back while she eats? The lactation consultant that I met with said that once your milk comes in it will come out faster than colostrum and it's best to lean back during feedings instead of sitting straight up.

@lexij, her coughing could be a sign of a fast let down. I have the same thing. Usually I'll self express for about 30 seconds before and if she starts coughing just pull her off the boob and pat her back before letting her relatch. Also try to keep her on her side
