I got married in California and all we needed was ID's, socials, birth certificates, and money that was it. We filled out the paper and they sent us to a room and we got married.

you just need your id and I remember we had to bring out birth certificates

No. We got married in Virginia. But I'm sure it isn't too difficult elsewhere. Try googling marriage requirements at courthouse in California.
