An obstetrician is a doctor who specialises in the care of women during pregnancy, labour and after birth. In some hospitals some women see them automatically In others, your midwife or GP may refer you for an appointment if they have a particular concern with you or your pregnancy, such as previous complications or if you have a chronic illness ect. I've seen one with both my pregnancies. you can discuss any concerns with them x
