I mentioned delayed cord cutting to my doctor today, she said okay but that its basically a fad and has no real benefits for full term babies. Just wondering how everyone feels about this or if their doctors have said anything similar.

if cord blood had no benefits, there wouldn't be cord blood banking. Cord blood has amazing benefits and life saving stem cells. That should not be wasted.

Hmm interesting. My doctor recommended it and pretty much did it automatically. I did the delayed clamping.

My baby was super late, about 2 weeks overdue and my doctors still recommended delayed cord clamping for the benefits. @rari pretty much covered the benefits

My doctor said it was proven to help keep babies from getting anemic, and helps protect against babies getting jaundiced as well. He said delayed cord clamping and cutting makes for more alert babies who are more likely to be interested in eating within the first hour too. So my doctor basically thinks its the best for babies.

My doctor said the same thing so we didn't delay with my daughter. My research mostly showed it was beneficial for premie babies.
