Water isn't recommended until at least 6 months. Is your baby in pain? There's stuff called gripe water by mothers bliss that would help my daughter. Some women actually get a q tip and a little bit of Vaseline and stick it in the rectum just a little bit and it usually helps as well
I was told the same it's not good for their systems this early. What helped my daughter was moving her legs in a bike motion or when I heard her strain I'd help her by pushing her legs to her chest or even giving her tummy a massage in small circles in a larger circle around her belly button

Not judging anyone who does give water that young but I was personally told not until 6 months.
