Just got back from my 37 week doctors appointment and I have been scheduled a c section for October 4.. I have mixed emotions/feelings.. If any mommies have advice or anything I would love to hear it all.
@nissii1994, some hospitals might, I'd ask your nurses just in case and that way they know it's something you really want maybe they can accommodate you, at my hospital it was their policy
@christineg all hospitals are different, I would just tell the nurses to give you a little run down before hand so you know what to expect, my hubby even got to cut the umbilical cord he was so happy
@Samclark5, ok great thanks! I read that you wouldn't be able to hold the baby right away cuz of the meds but it makes me excited that the hubs will get to do skin to skin. That will make him so happy I think, and I'll def have him take a pic if they don't bring her up to my face 👍🏽
@christineg, I'm so glad I could help, if you have any other questions ladies feel free to ask! I didn't see my baby right away, I heard her and my husband saw her and described her to me but because of the spinal your arms are laid out to your sides and completely numb so while they stitched me up my husband got to do skin to skin with her and then once I was in recovery I got skin to skin time and they latched her on me for the first time. If you want to see her right away and they don't let you, have whoever is with you in the room take a picture and show you
@nissii1994, being nervous is totally normal just try not to let it over shadow the big day ❤️❤️ yea have a really big late dinner lol cause you will be hunnnnngry! Lol @
@Samclark5, perfect explanation 👍🏽 I have my scheduled c section next month too and have absolutely no idea what to expect. You def helped a lot!
Another question tho, do they let you hold your baby right away or did you have to wait a bit?
@samclark5, I have been prepping my self emotionally but it's like you said it's hard to stop being nervous or scared.. I have to be at the hospital at 3pm and doctor said I couldn't eat anything the day of :(
I had a scheduled csection and I did tons of emotional prep where I would imagine the mundane things that would happen on the day of and it helped a lot. I will say I was still nervous going into it but I think anyone would be. The nurses were insanely nice and the entire process was super calm. While the doctors were making the incision and my husband and I were talking behind the curtain I didn't even know that they had begun until I heard my LO cry for the first time. The doctors were all very comfortable and I could tell they had a ton of experience which really helped me stay calm. (They were even asking each other if they wanted to take lunch together and what their wives had packed for them 😂) also as soon as you can walk, do it and do it as often as you can ! Also maybe bring a pillow from home for yourself and if you have a boppy pillow it made it easier to breastfeed for me. Make sure u have a large meal before you can't eat anymore (for me it was midnight and I went in at 11) because they have to wait forever to give you a meal. I was starving for like 6 hours bugging them for food 😂 but just remember your baby will be there and it'll all be worth it ❤️❤️👶🏻
