My mother-in-law's neighbor is a NICU nurse and was trying to tell me that I should only be breast feeding my 13 month old in the morning and at bedtime. Apparently there's no nutritional value in my milk anymore... I'm sorry lady, but you don't know my baby and you barely know me. Keep your unsolicited advice to yourself. I will feed him as often as he feels the need to nurse!
She was trying to tell me that I should only be feeding him twice a day because that's what she did with her daughter at his age apparently they only "comfort feed" at this age. I mean that's cool and all, but every baby is different and what worked for her and her babies doesn't work for everyone. @scidg3
Unless she actually took certain courses to specialize in it whether it be in school or work.....nurses only get a snipit of experience in each rotation. @wonderland1202 I hope no one listens to her.
It definitely didn't feel right when she told me that, so of course being the person I am I had to research it on my own. La Leche and Kelly mom both say that your breastmilk has enough nutritional value to be the number one source of food. It just really upsets me that people with degrees don't even have the knowledge about breastfeeding, no wonder most women don't breastfeed! @mamapenguin @mrsmoore
