put triple antibiotic ointment on his butt till it heals and stop using wipes till it goes away. use a wash cloth with warm water and a little bit of soap in a bowl. my son used to get awful rashes like that and they gave me nystatin to put on it since it was more of a fungal rash. you cant stop putting the ointment on tho even if there's sores, cuz then it wont heal. just make sure you change him right away even if it's just pee, the more you keep it clean and dry and medicated the quicker it will heal. you just have to keep putting medicine on it or itll stay like this and your baby will be in mass pain, trust me i been through it with my son. keep putting the medicine on it!

That definitely looks like yeast. Have you tried monistat?

@kaygee612, the medicine they gave me says to stop use if bleeding or open soars occur. They told me not to put any other ointment on it because it creates a barrier and can trap moisture on the rash. I will definitely do the wash cloth though.

if you clean it and put triple antibiotic ointment on it like neosporin it will protect it and create a barrier to keep other germs and moisture out. just by letting it sit like this with no protection from anything is going to cause more pain and more problems than putting stuff that is made for protection of infection in open sores and wounds. the neosporin isnt going to do anything but help heal it. its a trial and error kind of thing, you use one form of medicine and if it dont work you move to the next one. but you have to keep up with it not let it get so bad your baby is screaming and writhing in pain when you touch a wipe to his butt. when his bottom starts getting a little pink is when you should start acting on it, putting diaper cream or neosporin and powder. ask your doctor about nystatin its for fungal infections but it can be used for diaper rashes. you just need to be proactive and search for what else you can use because it isnt cool to leave him like that since it looks painful and if youre not putting the medicine on it you should be finding another route so youre not causing your child more pain

@kaygee612, I'm not letting him sit in pain. He only screams in pain when I put the ointment on. Any type of ointment. I've already tried the A & D and they told me to stop that because it traps moisture. They also said no baby powder because it's made from cornstarch and yeast feeds off of it and will make it worse. I did not just sit here and let it get worse. I take precautions as soon as I noticed it getting red. This has been over a 3 day span. I've already taken him to the walk-in clinic twice and I finally got an appointment with his pediatrician today.
