Making lactation cookies, I hope they come out right and as good as everyone says they are. Lol
@chelsnicole, this bottle says it's 500mg, while the ones you by at Walmart or other major chains says 610mg. but the difference is, that the 500mg bottle that I bought has 1g (1000mg) of fenugreek (as you can see from the pictures) while the bottles from major grocery stores and likewise, do not have an amount of fenugreek (usually only putting 'seed' on the ingredients list)
my lactation consultant is the one that told me about them @chelsnicole honestly though, the ones you bought might not have enough fenugreek in them to actually help. where it has the ingredients, if all it says is 'fenugreek seed', then it's not much at all. find some that has an actual dosage of fenugreek in it if you want it to make a difference. (1g/1,000mg). also, *every* medication ever has to put the warning label on it that says to ask your doctor before using if you are nursing or pregnant. if you have any questions, I would look into seeing a lactation consultant (or lactation advisor). they will seriously be your best friend. she helps me with everything breastfeeding related! I feel like a pro now and I'm a first time mom, just from seeing her all the time. I go to weekly appointments lol.
Ok so bought some fenugreek pills at CVS the other day but the pharmacist said she didn't recommend I take them because she had never heard it helped breast milk production. Also the bottle says not to take them during pregnant or nursing. So now I'm not sure if I should take them. @babymonkey12 @jesscami
So I barely tried the cookies I made and I usually hate oatmeal cookies. But these were amazing lol @mommyandjonford
if you get fenugreek do not get it from Walmart, Walgreen's or anyplace like that. it is simply the tiniest bit of fenugreek and all filler. you get what you pay for honestly. go to a special shop that sells supplements and herbs to get it. it will be more pricey but is so worth it. I got a bottle from wWalmart, nothing worked. got one from a herbs shop and within two days I saw a huge improvement. the key to knowing if it's in your system or if you're taking enough, is if your sweat, urine, or even breatsmilk, has a maple syrup smell. if not, up the dose. the bottles normally say take 2-3 a day. that's not true at all, instead start with taking 3 of them, 3 times a day. you can even up it to 4 or 5 three times a day. youll see a definite increase in breast milk though :) @babymonkey12
You can try fenugreek seed. I have enough milk to feed him but i don't have enough to pump and I'm going to need since I'm going to have to go back to work and it's been helping me a lot.
My lc also told me about it and my aunt. @jesscami is right about where you get it. @chelsnicole
