Was on Facebook and someone stated that they feel like allowing your young child to be morbidly obese should be considered abuse, or something along the lines of abuse.

What do you ladies think? Personally, I sort of agree. It isn't fair to a small child to allow them to be overweight and have all types of weight related problems. When I was younger, the woman who babysat us had obese children. Her 4year old daughter had to wear a bra. Her 8 year old son needed a CPAP machine because his weight made it hard for him to breathe while he slept. Idk. It's not right to me. 😕😕 Especially when most of it is what they're eating and how much activity they get.

@katarama yeah I think it should be a discussion with the doctor at an appropriate age. Not said about young children or infants. Weight isn't a defining character of who someone is. But good health should be important.

@nicemmcha2015 @bonniesue oh no, I think chunky babies and toddlers are completely different! Just children, like once they're old enough to participate in physical activity and it can become unhealthy for them to be too big.

contributing factors to childhood obesity include being uneducated, living in food deserts which directly correlate to low income households, not having physical fitness classes in schools, not having a safe place to play at home, and undiagnosed health/psychological issues. It completely breaks my heart to see children unhealthy but we can't punish people for being ignorant nor can we punish them for being impoverished. All we can do is educate and try to encourage program growth and access to healthier options

I can understand where the abuse part comes from. Children deserve to be healthy. And parents are the main person in control of that. But I also think there's a problem with labeling children's weight too early. My son was under 2 months old and a doctor told me he had to diet. So it's a little sensitive to me hope i made sense.

I wouldn't call it abuse. maybe neglect. it's ridiculous how huge some kids are. some of it could be genetics as well though and some kids are just built big. people tell me my 2 year old is big but she's only 29 lbs and is very active and doesn't get fed junk. she just loves her milk and is tall for her age.
