Ladies question Leah won't sleep in her bassinet... She will only sleep on my chest... How do you ladies deal with that?

@nelly1991, she lived inside of you for 9 months. she's used to you holding her and being close. now she's been ripped away, made to wear clothes, has people she doesn't know touching her. she's still a newborn. this is a transitional time for her. so what if she wants you to hold her when she sleeps? she needs her mommy. there is nothing wrong with that. her world has been flipped upside down and she's been thrown into this totally new environment where people just expect her to do what they want. it definitely doesn't work that way dear. give her time. she will sleep on her own eventually.

@nicemmcha2015, if she falls asleep on me and I put her in her bassinet within five mins she cries for me @kimlove she slept in my bed on her baby lounger and she was fast asleep

My baby's only 1 month and was the same exact way. She hated to be swaddled too so that made it difficult to put her down anywhere because she'd wake herself up within a couple minutes. I let her sleep on me as much as she wanted for the first 2-3 weeks, then one day in the middle of the day I tried the swaddle again and she slept in my bed for almost 3 hours! Basically, go slow, follow her lead, and I know it's hard and tiring but enjoy the snuggles while you can. Even now, when my LO wakes up and the sun is already up, I'll let her sleep on my chest because otherwise she'll just stare out the window at the sunlight lol.

@nelly1991, oh I meant by letting them sleep on you. not by letting them cry. I AM 100% AGAINST CIO. that crap is cruel. I meant let the baby sleep on you. that phase doesn't last forever. slowly transition to the bassinet.

Make sure the bassinet isn't cold when you lay her down. Swaddle baby. Keep your hand on top of her for a while after placing her inside. Whatever blanket you use to swaddle put it in your shirt so it smells like you. You can't "cry it out" with a newborn

"crying it out" is not beneficial especially with newborns. they need that closeness to bond amd to feel secure

I let my babies snuggle with me as much as they need. I let them fall asleep and transfer them to the bed after they are asleep. slowly but surely the time does increase as they get more independent. just try to be taking naps so you're not overly tired
