Do babies born from 35-37 weeks use preemie size clothes? Or does newborn fit just fine?
Dear micro preemie moms, I'm writing this to you. When my daughter was born we were told we were 37 weeks along only to then be told the doctor before me lied to me and I wasn't 37 weeks I was 32 weeks and my baby would be born a preemie. Just a little earlier I had someone who I thought was a friend give birth to a 28 weeker. She was considered a micro preemie. I felt bad but I also had my own issues to deal with with my preemie daughter. When she was born our lives were a nightmare. I cried when they took my baby away without telling me why, I sobbed openly on the floor of the nicu when I finally got to see her 2 days later. I cried because I couldn't touch my baby because she was too sick for even her mother to touch her. I was an empty shell when they told me I had to go home with out my baby. I had no life expect when I went to see my baby ever 2 hours. We may not have been a micro preemie but we were still preemie parents. The first time I posted about my 34 weeker during preemie awareness month I had a micro preemie mom attack me because my baby was as "preemie" as hers therfore I didn't deserve to call my baby or my self a preemie strong mom. You're wrong. I may not have had a micro preemie but a preemie is still a preemie no matter what the size or gestation. So as an open call to all micro preemie moms, don't look down on "regular" preemie moms just because you think you have it harder, because the truth is we all have it hard. Your not some how more entitled to the name preemie mom because of the micro before it. EVERY preemie mom is Preemie strong and every preemie mom deserves to be loved and felt like she can make it through by the support of other preemie moms. Stop the hate inside a group of women who need all the support they can get. I in know way want to make anyone angry, but the truth is when micro preemie moms put down "regular" preemie moms they do themselves an injustice. Stop the hate embrace the love.

I think my daughter was in preemie for about a month or so. she was 5 lbs 1 oz at birth. now she's 2 and a half months and wears some newborns and some 0-3 months because she's over 9 lbs. I'm sure your daughter will grow quick. seems like my daughter did. 😊

@jessicarose0602, how early was she? our daughters were close in size at birth, only a few oz difference!

I have no preemie clothing. I brought newborn to the hospital and it's huge on my baby. she's 3 weeks early. I'll be going shopping after we get out hospital lol

how is her growth so far, what should I expect from a preemie, do u breastfeed

she was only early by 2 weeks and 3 days. she was just a small baby. they said she was in the 8th percentile. but she's definitely making up for it now. to other people she's still so tiny but I've seen how much she's grown.
Jess Bram·
@jessicarose0602, mine was in the 6% percentile and that was even at 2 weeks old, it was super discouraging. she's gaining now though. steadily, but slowly. I just get tired of the comments I get...like, "my granddaughter was 8 weeks early and wasn't even that small!" or, "omgosh, do you even feed her!" or my personal favorite, "she doesn't even have any chub like other babies, she's skin and bones!"
...like come on people, lay off...smh..

@riahlala3, preemie babies have more risk factors, jaundice included. weight loss is a big issue too, especially if you are breastfeeding which is what I wanted to do. I was forced to start supplementing formula at a week old because she would not stop losing weight. you'll also probably have to go in for weekly check ups, on top of the regular appointments as well
Jess Bram·
@riahlala3, how much does your baby weigh? seriously, the best advice I can give you, is dont stop breastfeeding even if you get discouraged. I was brokenhearted because of how much weight my daughter kept losing, I felt like I wasnt giving her what she needed and that I was starving her. so I started supplementing with the formula. so anytime she was hungry (even after breastfeeding) I would give her a bottle of formula. and I regret that so much. it made it so my milk supply never came in well, and if I would have just kept with it, it would have worked out. my supply would have evened out and would have adjusted to my babies needs and she would have stopped losing weight. even if your milk doesn't come in right away or you feel like your baby's not getting enough, it'll get there!

what people don't understand sometimes is we did nothing wrong as moms. I took my vitamins, I ate all the time, I gained weight like I was supposed to.. she just happened to be small. even the people at the wic office made it out to be a big deal that she was so small.. it kills me!! don't worry, she will start picking up weight quickly. my daughter gained slowly at first too. here she is when she was coming home.

she was 6lbs 5 oz at birth now 48hrs later she's 5lbs 10 oz...and thanks for sharing. oh I definitely have no intention of stopping my breastfeeding . they want me to give her half an ounce after nursing from both sides each feeding. didn't want her on formula but for now I'll just follow their request
Jess Bram·
she is so adorable! and thanks, I'm a first time mom so encouragement is wonderful, especially when you're dealing with the harsh judgement of others over things we sometimes can not control. (such as having small of early babies!)
my baby was only early because I ended up being induced due to liver failure. I went to see my OB because of pain and it turned out to be my liver, and I was in the hospital bed an hour later to be induced! there was no time to even think. but my best friend had her baby to full term and was still just as tiny as mine! as long as the babies healthy, it's all okay. :)
Jess Bram·
@jessicarose0602, sorry I forget to tag you in my previous comment lol
Jess Bram·
@riahlala3, a half an ounce is okay though! as long as she's feeding on both sides from you first then you're doing everything right! your supply will come in just as needed :) and I understand how much it sucks for our baby's to lose so much weight, so quickly. it'll be no time at all before she starts gaining though. it's an amazing feeling too, taking them to be weighed every week and watching it slowly come up each time. I've been obsessing over watching her weight percentile come up each time lol

unless people go through it and have a small baby they don't understand, and some of them can be pretty harsh. I freaked out at first thinking I did something wrong but I know I didnt. she came out perfectly healthy so that's what was important to me. I was induced due to high blood pressure. when I was in labor my blood pressure went all the way up to 200/100!
Jess Bram·
@jessicarose0602, I had preeclampsia, and then was diagnosed with HELLP Syndrome, but my BP never got as high as yours did! I just had the liver failure because of the HELLP Syndrome, (my platelet count was way too low and my liver enzymes were too high, causing the liver problems). did you had to have the magnesium sulfate medicine during labor?? I hated that stuff :/

I'm not sure what they gave me, but they gave me so much during labor that it ended up blowing out my vein. it was horrible. and I had an epidural but it only worked on one side. the doctor said I had pre-hypertension, the stage before pre-eclampsia but I'm not so sure. hope you are doing better now!! I hate hearing that people have complications sometimes like we did.
