My son was on it from 4 weeks, I was originally breast feeding but he was such a hungry baby I wasn't producing enough for him, so I made the decision to put him on hungry baby milk, he slept a hell of a lot better, went 3 hours between feeds, the only time he never was through the growth stage where I'd up an oz (normally tells you on the back of the box when abouts to up the ozs) I didn't ask my hv about it I just did it, and when I got asked what milk he was on I said, and no one said otherwise, I never had any problems with it x

What you'll soon realise @clairey is what one midwife / health visitor says, another will contradict! My eldest son was badly constipated as a newborn & I asked about giving water. One said absolutely not. Another a different day said yes that's fine 😂 I debated hungry baby milk with my youngest as he was feeding every 1.2hrs - 2hrs continuously & it was tiring. I was knackered. However I then thought, who would I be doing that for. Me or him? So I held off. It's normal for newborns to need frequent feeding. 6weeks down he's slowly gone to 3hrs & often longer during the night. But if you think hungry milk is helping then that's great. Just keep an eye on how he gets on with it. I've heard it's awful & bad for their tummies but then I wonder why it's on the shelves if it's so bad??

I put my boy on it during the night. He would be up every 40 -60 minutes looking for a feed and it was really affecting him during h the day so it was hungry baby at night and the normal one during the day. Don't know if it was because he was on the normal sma during the day, but he never got constipated or had any issues on it :) xx

I didnt find consitipation was a problem and if it ever is just but a ready made carton or bottle and it helps them go (another tip from mw), i personally found it helped and some babies get tummy ache just because its a bit heavier the milk but it only lasts a few days normally while they get used to it, if it was so bad it wouldnt be invented or called hungrier baby milk, i think the old midwives i had gave me the best advice than the ones today, my eldest is 13 and half, and so much has changed over the years, there was no prepping machines back then it was boiled water and a jug of cold to cool down or hot to heat it up, the midwife in hospital obvioulsy thought u and baby would benifit from it and that is ehy she advised, each mw has diff advice for people so its hard to know what to do for the best, i would see how she is over a couple of days and if no diff then re think the situation, i found aptimal was good with last baby i had never had pains or anything xx

My midwife at hospital said it might be a good idea because she was wanted to feed every 1.5-2 hours and like you @safiamammy1 I wasn't getting any sleep so we did yesterday but the midwife that visited my house today was like oh no we don't advise it because of this that and the other which my other midwife didn't tell me so now I feel bad that she might be having tummy ache.. she still is having lots of wet nappies and she's had a poop so she hasnt been constipated. Being a first time mum is hard because u want to do as the midwife says as there the experts but now there contradicting themselves and I feel like I should go back to the normal milk x

I considered putting my 9yr old on it when she was a few weeks old she was so hungry all the time but my health visitor scared me off by saying it makes them really constipated so I never done it x
