Seeing as though I have 5mins I thought I'd share my labour story with you ladies finally.. so on Wednesday 24th August I went to the midwife for a sweep.. a very good (slightly painful) sweep.. later on that afternoon I noticed my pants were slightly wet and I was getting period type pains.. these lasted the night and at 8oclock in the morning I felt a pop and realised my waters had gone so I got a bath and rang the hospital they said to just monitor and see how the pains go. The pains were increasing but when I went to the toilet the colour of my waters wasn't 'normal' so I rang the hospital back and asked them what I should do and they said to come in and they will check. When I got there they said that baby had pooped inside of me and they wanted me to go straight to delivery to be induced as it could be dangerous so I started on the hormone drip that afternoon.. the pain got worse and I asked for gas and air at first which quickly turned into diamorphine which did seem to work for a couple of hours but because they kept turning the hormone drip up I found the pain too much with just them drugs.. plus my contractions seemed to be mostly in my legs, groin and bum which I told the midwives and they weren't listening and monitored my stomach telling me I shouldn't be in that amount of pain 😣 they checked me a couple of hours later and I had only reached 3cm so I asked for the epidural (something I didn't really want prior to being in labour) well that didn't work either so I had to wait for someone to come back and tell me what I could have.. we waited over 2hours with nothing in my system and the hormone drip up to 60 the pain was incredible and I sucked so hard on the gas and air I didn't know my name lol after the couple of hours I begged them to check if I had gone up but they wanted to wait the 4 hours.. not happening! they checked and I had gone to 7cm I kept using the gas and air whilst asking for something more and an hour later I was at 9 almost 10 there was just a slight rim.. but in this time by baby who had been back to back had turned and was now sideways I needed to push but when I did it felt like she was against my bum then they said they wasn't happy with baby's heart rate and they needed to put a clip on her head to monitor it which they did and suddenly it dropped to 50 the next thing I remember was being pushed through the hospital getting prepped for theatre as they needed to do an episiotomy to help baby get out and they needed to turn her. when I got to theatre it was found that the epidural hadn't been done correctly so they had to do a new one for my spinal block.. they cut me (couldn't feel a thing from my neck down) turned my baby and told me to push. the only thing I remember is them telling me to push like I was having a poo but because of the spinal block and not being able to feel anything I felt like I had forgotten how to do that so I just pulled a pooing face hoping that would be enough.. it clearly was because after a bit of help with forceps to get her head out 2mins later she was on my chest screaming her lungs out.. sorry if this has scared anyone as I know before I had my little girl this would have scared me but I do think honesty is the best policy and it's important to remember every labour is different and the best thing about this app is we all share our stories and help other people become prepared. Yes it was painful and scared the life out of me but truly when your baby is placed in your arms or on your chest that is THE only thing that matters and all the scary stuff and painful things go away.

Loved reading this! As a first time mum I like to read birth stories so I can get an idea of different scenarios that can happen as feel more prepared (I'm sure it will still be worse than I expect but still 😂) xxx
