I have been experiencing this. My doctor seems to think it's because there is something she calls "the hammock" and the baby and placenta are getting heavier and heavier and laying on that. It apparently can cause muscle spasms and that's what the sharp pains are in the crotch.

Mine started when I layed down on the couch, now my hip is starting to hurt.. I don't know if the hip pain is associated with it.
