A convertible one is safe. Actually they're better because they can rear face longer. Also this is cute!

@andrewsmommy, as long as your baby can sit up/keep head up and is at weight requirement it's fine and these can usually recline as well so theres not much difference

@andrewsmommy, What @tayek & @mrsmoore said its fine. My son is almost 25lbs & 32in he defiantly meets the weight requirements for sure.

My sons only 18 lbs but he's chubby lol

he cries alot on his carseat i think hes uncomfortable

Yes really. Most babies will quickly outgrow an infant seat, which is when people generally think they could face forward @andrewsmommy BUT it's better, safer, and in some placea required to face rear as long as possible. My daughter did until she turned 6. We had a convertible seat from about 7 months on, and it was a really good one so she was able to be safe even as she grew taller. We're planning to do the same with our son, rear face as long as possible. At least 6 years, like his sister. =)
