I was recently hired as an amateur photographer for a wedding. The maid of honor is my finances second cousin. She hired us as her gift to the bride. We spent 6 hours total shooting on a Saturday. I got a sitter for my kids. We have yet to get paid ($100 as we are doing a family member a favor) and everyday the bride and the maid of honor ask me for the photos. It's been 5 days. Im starting to get aggravated. It's a ton of work to sift through, edit, and collaborate the 3,000+ photos we took. My MIL hired a pro for her wedding spent $750 for one hour with the dude and 42 photos 8 weeks later. Am I wrong for being so irritated at their daily requests? Especially considering I'm doing the editing in my free time (if that actually exists) and have not been compensated.
Definitely do not give the photos until you've been paid. Maybe if you have one or two you could give them just to shut up. But they are being crazy.
@bonniesue, thank you! I'm having trouble coming up with polite wording for fuck off for now 😈 lol. Not to mention I don't want to rush through this and have my name attached to shitty quality pics.
They're very unreasonable. I would lay down the law and text them "I understand the excitement of photos but please keep in mind I am working to give you the best photos I can. I also am waiting on my payment. Keep in mind I will tell you when they're done and I have been paid."
@bonniesue, I think that is where this began. I gave her a "teaser" photo. She then asked for another for her thank you cards since she immediately shared that one to social media and everyone saw it. So I did my best to accommodate that. Now she has tried to blow up the teaser pic (which she can't since I haven't engraved the files to that in editing hence it being a teaser photo) but had asked for a different one she can blow up. Damn. But wow thank you so much for working this out with me! I feel better, didn't blow up on her and didn't back down. You're my hero at the moment!!!
