I need some advice on if im being to harsh or not. Well while my sister was here visiting my dad and family from Iowa (she lives with my mom and is also 13) she decided that since i didn't agree with one of her opinions that she was going to be really disrespectful towards me and just basically talk shit and run her mouth, one time through facebook messenger and another time at my dads. So I blocked her on facebook, since she was going to just try to stress me out and blame her not seeing her nephew or me only twice the whole 3 months she was here on her being 13 and her friends being more important I just cut her out and I told her since we are not important enough for you to see then you dont deserve to be updated on pictures or know when her neice is born. Now through my mom she keeps trying to have me unblock her, but im still trying to prove a point. Because not only did she spend time with me twice out of 3 months when she only comes once a year she also told my grandparents false information and i got stuck with our brother all summer who i really needed help with but she refused to be here if he was here. which i feel was really unfair. Am I being childish? I feel like this is a lesson in life she needs to learn.

You're right. She needs to lean respect

I think it's childish in the way you went about it.... Does she need to learn respect? Yes. Is throwing a fit yourself and blocking her on Facebook going to do a darn thing?? NOPE! It's a normal 13 year old thing to block and unblock people. Maybe you need to look at why your grandparents would believe something she said over what you did....

Well I mean if i didn't block her then she wouldn't have stopped messaging me. I didnt know blocking negative people was a bad thing, since thats the only form of communication i have with her. @dcb012

Let her keep messaging you. There's a silent notification on FB. By blocking her you played her game and she won.... She got what she wanted. She got a rise out of you, got your mom mad, and got you now constantly thinking about it. Game over. She wins.

I guess you would have to be in my situation to understand. Im not going to sit here and explain everything. But my mother was the one that suggested me blocking her to teach her a lesson about respect. @dcb012

I understand blocking her but at the same time she is only 13, her friends and stuff are more important to her at this time. She's just in that stage of being a smart mouthed brat, I definitely remember being 13 and acting the very same

Yeah but out of 3 months of being here i feel like she could have found more time for family. My son doesnt even know her, which i find really sad. @quea

Never feel bad for cutting someone out of your life if they're not willing to put in effort to be there for you. 13 is a tough age, so maybe it's partially her being immature but you can decide if you want to unblock her or not. It's not up to your mom.

I agree with @kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom. It is a rough age but she is also old enough to know who her family is and that she needs to put the time in to seeing you and your family if she wants you guys to see her.
