Are mittens really necessary for a newborn? If so, does the hospital provide them? I don't have any, but a few of her premeie and newborn sleepers have the flaps on the hands.
@babybowers, I never use the mittens they fall right off. I clip & file. I've used a baby sock before, stayed on better than the mitten.
@harranmommy, that's what I was thinking, like will just keeping them clipped and filed be good?
@showersoverflowers yes... Desmond never scratched himself, but would scratch the crap out of me
They're not a requirement, just depends on whether or not you wanna deal with baby scratching up their face. Depends on the hospital. some do, some don't
@mimiz, awww so little! That's good that you never had a problem with it!
@showersoverflowers, I wouldn't of even thought of that lol!
Right mine was 4lbs so imagine how huge lol and the first time she ever scratched her face no one noticed she didn't cry and she was 3 months!
It's nice to have them for a while not only when they are newborn. especially while nursing. my first son would claw at me while nursing...I looked like I got in a tussle with an alley cat
@showersoverflowers, thanks! I've made sure most of her sleepers have them since that's what she'll be in for most the time
@ashley07, yeah I feel like it's easy to forget or overlook
@mimiz, that's why I never cared for them, they are always huge on their hands! They expect her to be a 6 pounder so she's gonna be little!
I know but unfortunately they don't when I had my first I didn't have any mittens and my parents had to run and get some because the hospital didn't provide any
I love them! amazon has bigger ones for cheaper, walmart has newborn ones. I went ahead and purchased quite a few plain white onsies in 0-3 months with the fold over option.
@sshley07, I feel like that's something hospitals should provide lol like at least one pair @rmreed that's such a great idea!
yes because of their nails but the hospital does not provide them
@rylannsmommy33016, @crazytoast Thanks for replying! I'll try to pick up a couple pairs. :)
@egaylep2, ok maybe I'll pick up a couple just in case
They are for our son because he claws at his face constantly. We use mittens and the flaps or try to swaddle him so he can't scratch at his face. 😊
Newborns have a tendency to rub their face and their finger nails can be long so they will scratch their little faces. Sometimes Hospitals do have them.
ladies. who have a newborn 1 month old how much are they eating
must haves for newborn mommies?? anddddd go! 😁 lol
Anyone have any ideas on how to make a newborn sleep through the night?
how long do newborns stay in newborn clothes normally? I have ALOT of bigger sizes! but not to many newborn!
Anybody have a 7-8lbs baby how many newborn diapers did you use?
I personally love the onezies with flaps instead of mittens. My son likes to try and push the mittens off.
