Really wish I had a better breastfeeding support system. My own mother never breastfed any of her 7 kids and thinks is too 'strange', and never supported me for a day. Told me I should just give it up and switch to formula. My husband has supported me though which is awesome, and my kids support me....heck, I guess I do have all the support I need. Just wish my mother would have understood and cheered me on.

Have you tried telling her you want her support and breast milk benefits? I think some times people won't support you because they feel it'd make them look bad for not doing it

I did tell her about the different benefits and all she kept saying was yep yep like she had absolutely no interest in what I was saying. And I did tell her that I wanted her to support me and she said well I think formula is better because you can track how much the baby is eating and actually see how much. She thinks breastfeeding is generally a strange thing to do because she believes breasts are a sexual thing rather than something that was meant to feed a baby.

Well, it is always upsetting when people can't see the natural part of breastfeeding. It may not mean anything but I support you! Keep doing what's best for you and baby!

You're an awesome mom and doing great. Ignore the people who don't support you. There are mom's out there who weren't lucky enough to be able to produce milk or get their baby to latch and they would kill to have that bond and give their baby those nutrients. I gave my son formula for literally a day or two and still breastfed in between and it messed up his whole system so much! I mean I know babies have to adjust to formula but my pediatrician suggested I try supplement feeding and I refused at first then I got really stressed out the other day and I couldn't produce milk for him so I did supplement...I'm still trying to get the poor thing back to normal after 3 bottles one day and four bottles of formula the next day..trust me, breast is best. If she doesn't support you, just know that tons of women do!
