I'm apparently a bad mum because when babe was 4 months old I started weaning him on 3 teaspoons of boiled blended veg once a day every other day. 🤔 controversial topic but what's your view on weaning at 4 months? And please be respectful of others views! Let's not have a repeat of what I've had this morning on Facebook lol
My brother was given baby rice from 6 recommend by health visitor than on solids by 3 months and there is NOTHING wrong with his diet 9 years later he was 11lb when born and nothing would satisfy him so HV said just feed him and than you look at my other brother who wasn't weaned until 6montha and he had the worst case of lactose and dairy intolerance you've ever seen so it goes to show it doesn't matter it's up to you! I never listened to HV bullshit anyway X
Yeah if there's a medical reason to wean then go for it but I don't understand why parents wean early because they are in a hurry for their babies to grow up especially if their little bodies can't handle it!
@sara-lou, completely understand personally I think as long as the child is ready and ok when your first try it I see nothing wrong with starting at 4 ☺️ I personally wouldn't stay before 4 but, like you, I'd never upset anyone because I don't agree. It is very confusing because so so many products say 4+ so you think it's ok but I never used baby rice or anything it was all fruit and veg. Moved onto porridge when he was a bit older and no he's 71/2 and feeds himself ☺️ xx
I didn't wean until 6months with Morgan & I don't plan to with Max. Saying that Morgan was never a hungry baby & Max is still very young so it's early days. I definitely wouldn't consider weaning at 3months. I wouldn't judge another parent for doing it if they've been advised by proper health professionals it's for the best for the child. However I hope parents don't wean just because their excited to get baby trying foods (have had some Mother's say this). If they advise 6months why is it ok to wean before for some? This is why parents get confused! @jenfer
@alexmcatamney, he's already almost 8 months I did it anyway lol when I mentioned I did on a mummy group on fb I had loads of people telling me off pretty much lol was like hmm well what's done is done he's fine ha just wanted to see what people on here thought :p xx
@jenfer, my friend was told by her health visitor to start weaning her lb at 4 months instead of putting him onto hungry milk so in my opinion it can't be all that bad, just go with your instinct and do what you think is best for your child xx
@peachesx, that's like me I would leave him in the cot but give him a little bit of bottle so he's drop back off. Didn't want him to think that every time he cried he's be picked up at night time. Almost does right the way through now ☺️☺️ xx
@jenfer @i weaned my daughter at 19 weeks she's now 23 weeks and eats 3 meals a day x
@rosie2013, , he also had reflux would eat and eat and eat even with the hungry baby milk and then sick everywhere and be hungry again. I tried limited his milk thinking he was just being greedy but he would then just wail and howel at me. and I may have had a bit of a crying moment with the health visitor and she said that although it's recommended to wait until 6 months, it won't do a lot of harm to have small amounts of fruit and veg. I had planned to wait until about 5 or so because my nieces were weaned at 4 and me and my 4 siblings where too. X
What's your reason for weaning so early? I think they obviously have the guidelines of 6 months for a reason but your baby so do what you feel! My son had bad reflux so paediatrician told us to wean at 4 and a half months!
@peachesx, how funny my boy is Roman too lol I also tried to cry it out method but I couldn't do it but he's pretty good still. I made sure I got him into a routine from day dot because I knew he would be starting nursery when I go back to work. I was just curious to see the responses on here because everyone is so much more diplomatic when it comes to other opinions than those one Facebook lol x
My son was allergic to cows milk and became quite underweight so we started weaning him at 4 months. The usual recommendation is to start between 4 and 6 months, so there is no way I would consider someone a bad mother for weaning at 4 months. I think sometimes people are going to be mean no matter what, they just want to disagree for the sake of it xx
@holliesinead, 😱 11lb! Your poor mum! I was never 100% convinced by the research I mean how do they know the same child wouldn't have developed allergies etc anyway xx
